Energetic, kinetic grooves, driving rhythms, searing, blistering leads, finesse and feel are words that have been used to describe Duffy’s style of guitar playing. Hailing from Northern Michigan, Duffy moved to Detroit for it’s vast musical heritage shortly after high school to embark on what has become a long and successful musical career.
He has toured to all four corners of the world performing and has also done countless studio sessions, including nationally televised ad campaigns, major label releases that have been nominated for awards including Grammy Awards, Billboard Magazine awards, World Music Awards.
The combination of these accomplishments, and performing with an array of world class musicians, has earned him a reputation as a top caliber world class guitarist. Well versed in all styles of playing, Duffy is best known for his potent Jazz/Rock and R&B/Funk chops.
His songwriting skills as well as vocals have won awards in Billboard Magazine’s Songwriter’s Contest and more. Duffy’s all original album release, “Acoustically Speaking” was met with high praise, reviews and wide airplay in the U.S. and Canada. The video for the album’s song “Samba Del Sonoran” has received worldwide accolades and won Best Music Video in the Indie Fest Film Awards Festival, Accolade Global Film Competition, and the Worldfest-Houston
Duffy has had 20 Detroit Music Award nominations, (winning 6), including nods for Outstanding R&B Instrumentalist, R&B Vocalist, R&B Artist, R&B Recording, Best Jazz Recording. Duffy’s Solo Guitar Christmas release. Which is a collection of holiday classics uniquely arranged and performed on a single guitar. Solo Guitar Christmas received rave reviews worldwide and was nominated for a Detroit Music Awards Outstanding Jazz recording.
A 2023 highlight is the reimagining the guitar parts on Moody Blues’ John Lodge modern reprised re-recording of the iconic Moody Blues album “Days of Future Passed”.
