Darryl Scotti

Darryl Scotti

Singer. Songwriter. Recording Artist.

Darryl composed his first love song at the tender age of five writing… “You were there at the fair” repeating that one single phrase over and over again (after all he was only five at the time). That young aspiring songsmith still fondly remembers it as if it were yesterday.

Growing up in Akron, Ohio in 1964 his life took on a new direction when he and his family sat around the TV watching those four mop tops from across the ocean, ‘The Beatles’, take America by storm on the Ed Sullivan Show. Darryl knew then he would devote his life to music. Playing guitar, singing pop songs, forming bands with his schoolmates, playing parties, and entering local talent shows was just the beginning of pursuing what became his lifelong passion.

Shortly out of Firestone High School, inspired by upper Classmates like Chrissie Hynde and ‘The Pretenders’ and local artist Joe Walsh and ‘The James Gang’ he went on to tour the Northeast with his own band ‘Surprize’. As fate would have it an unexpected breakup of his band he found himself held up in a small town, both broke and homeless, “somewhere in Indiana” as he refers to it. His agent called to ask if he would be interested in flying to Sarasota, Florida to audition for Columbia Recording Artists ‘Spiral Starecase’ supporting their #1 hit record ‘More Today Than Yesterday’.

That weekend began his stint touring as the guitarist performing the #1 hit record ‘More Today’ while sharing stages with headliners like Ray Charles, Billy Joe Royal, The Box Tops, and Nancy Sinatra. During that time he fine-tuned his ability to play and perform hit records.

Retiring from the road and settling into Northern California in the early 80’s founding his company ‘Darryl Scotti Events and Entertainment’ in 1987 (still conducting business today) he went on to work with acts like Narada Michael Walden, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E, Ray Obiedo, and Gavin Christopher with Chaka Kahn & Rufus while developing and producing live acts for touring and corporate engagements.

Still driven by his passion for performing, songwriting, and recording, Darryl formed his band ‘Big Yard’ in 2002 to tour in the Northern California CCM market while winning the NACAS Song of the Year title for ‘Take out the Trash’. Signed to Fair Oaks Records in 2005 releasing a solo CD ‘The Will & The Way’ was produced by Bob Kilpatrick featuring guest appearances with legendary Christian Artists Randy Stonehill and virtuoso guitarist Phil Keaggy.

Today, Darryl lives with his wife, Yvonne in Cave Creek, AZ enjoying an Arizona lifestyle while actively writing and producing new music. With his sights set on developing new upcoming artists while supporting and collaborating with other songwriters and producers for BigYard Nation, the future is bright. “God’s not done with me yet”, so he says.

The new 6 song EP release ’54th St. on BigYard Records produced by Alex Chacon and mixed by Aaron Howard features co-writes with Bill Dutcher and Arizona blues legend, Chuck Hall.
